Human Zoo… Country of Apes.. (a blog by Jack)

A few months back I was gifted a trip to Disney World– a very interesting place indeed. It was a weeklong trip, and I was able to spend one of the days at the Safari Park. As I observed the various encaged animals, I found it remarkable that these wild beasts remained so calm. I immediately assumed that the animals had to be sedated– I inquired this of one of the park workers and he quickly assured me that they weren’t. So I asked him how the gorillas remained so calm. He replied, well, we keep them well fed and they generally remain peaceful when they have no needs.

This concept as well as its implications juggled the old marbles. On a basic level, man and ape share similarities. I thought to myself: are humans not so different… These were seemingly wild animals placed in a “cage”(rather limited living arrangement) yet they were able to peacefully cohabitate…

What makes us as humans so different?

Are we not as civil and critically thinking as gorillas?

Can we not respect each other and each other’s space and peace of mind?

Or maybe it’s the “well fed” concept that’s missing. Perhaps it is the fact that we as humans are not all “well fed”, and that keeps this monster called society ticking. Perhaps the fact that we aren’t “well fed” unleashes a savage-primitive nature within us–cultivated, yet still savage. Perhaps the fact that we aren’t “well fed” keeps the economy going.

I have a personal philosophy: “Low self-esteem drives the economy”. Many of top markets within our economy are in direct appeal to man’s vanity (cosmetics, clothing, luxury items, etc.).

Albeit to directly correlate man with a gorilla is a gross oversimplification. And an insult to the complexities of what it means to be a human. To keep a gorilla “well fed” is quite a simple task. It simply depends on having the proper quantity of food and environmental stimulus. On the other hand, keeping a human “well fed” involves a bit more. Most humans (not all) are three tier beings. Beings of mind, body, soul (which houses the individual spirit) — thus to keep a human well fed involves more aspects. Each of these aspects of the human must be addressed– as a trinity they grow hand and hand: lending to each other’s growth through a synergistic reciprocation.

Thus, the fact that man isn’t at peace among man directly speaks to his deprived nutrition in one if not all of these areas.

Without enough physical food we know the length man is willing to go to eat. A man will have no qualms about killing another man over bread– over his livelihood. This can be noted in various mediums of artistic expression– whether it be through movie or song.

Without enough mental stimulation we know the harm that this can do as well. Just take a look at the youth who are under stimulated in school. They often find destructive outlets to manifest these bottled up mental energies– often expressing itself in the destruction of the community or themselves somehow.

The most critical of man’s needs is spiritual food. When fed properly it allows for the other two outlets to be pursued harmoniously– it creates a balance. When man understands the spiritual nature of him-self and begins to develop it on the smallest of scales, his physical and mental energies begin to generate healthy outlets naturally. These mental and physical energies are automatically directed towards spiritual growth– love, benevolence towards others, ingenuity etc. And this is what happens when man simply begins to understand that he is a spiritual being.  A gateway begins to open which actually enacts spiritual growth—which involves so much more (healing aspects, mind over matter, insight, foresight, manifestation, etc.) But without the basic of awareness of who one is these spiritual avenues can never be pursued, or pursued in healthy manner.

So perhaps we aren’t so different from the ape. Another caveat I failed to mention is that the male gorillas were separated from the females. This places too many other variables in the mix– because then the variables of love, desire, and procreation come into play. And these variables would convolute the discussion.  But for simplicity sake, I do believe I made my point.

Perhaps if we as a society received more spiritual nutrition, many of our afflictions would cease to exist.

God save the Queen part 2 (a poem by Jack)

They act in the image of their maker…

Cold.. Disconnected… Disheartened…

And for this I place no blame…

If you want the creation to be different… Alter the creator… Don’t chastise the creation…

But there still are those who remain neutral…

Unallianced with us or them.. They stand idly by… Year after year.. Century after century… Spectacle after spectacle…

Goes witnessed but unacted…

Is it fear why you choose not to play your part…

If you do nothing… Does this not display who’s side you’ve chosen…

Do you absolve yourself from responsibility… Judgement you’re without because you have no free will..

Your will is indebted to your indifference..

You may not act as a monster… But to witness monstrosities without any action.. Makes you no less of a monster…

Who are these creatures who have eyes that see but hands that don’t act…

Who are these creatures that they reap the benefits of man’s ingenuity but play no role in the sustainability of man…

Friend or foe… State your claim…

I see you… You may no longer remain hidden…

You have been placed on noticed..

And as the prophecy unveils… And fulfills itself… Do not believe you will be free from absolution…

Your indifference will not save you… Man will not save you…

Choose your next lifetimes wisely…

For no man knows the hour… But every man knoweth the truth…

And as the color rises with the tide of consciousness.. The inevitable will balance energies… And indigo will illuminate the souls of the righteous…

The righteous will burn unique..

All that was hidden will come to the flame…

God save the Queen (a poem by Jack)

Are we all that weak…

That susceptible..

Amnesia…

How do you battle every day in a war you have no awareness that you’re apart of…

Wave after wave… Barrage after barrage you take on without the slightest clue..

No idea who your enemy is..

No idea who you have alliances with…

There’s a war going on outside.. No man is safe from..

You’ve seen your enemy face and face… And because they convinced you all men were created equal… You believed him to be of you…

Why do good things happen to bad people?

You’ve felt your enemy’s wrath but thought it was simply a random act…

They’ve taunted you… Because they are well aware and are at a steady disadvantage… Their only advantage is that they know…

And you don’t…

Surreptitiously..

Clandestine…

Thought after thought… Infects your mind… Influencing your will… Bending you to wounded knee…

Depression…

Suicide…

homicide…

Pestilence..

Disease..

Nature’ way? Man’s nature?

Hmm….

Your mind’s eye speaks… Your soul’s ear must listen…

There’s an all out blitz… An assault on your consciousness.. From all and every angle of possibility..

Visionaries Assassinated… Prophets muted… Healers confounded…

Yes there’s a war goin’ on outside, no man is safe from…

….

Then why are you here?????

Reconcile me by my Truths… (A poem by Jack)

The reconciliation of duality..

Who you think you are versus who you really are… What you’re deemed to be…

What you are never changes from this life to the next… The source will always be there… But the power of the Who is enough to make or break a man..

So we deal with extremes and polar opposites… Constantly rationalizing the two in this brain of ours…

Who is the greater… Who is the lesser…

I feel fickle and unrooted…

Am I a human? Then allow me to run the gamma of my emotion… If I’m human let me feel all there is to be human…

If I’m god… Let me create… Let me draw from the infinite and manifest that which is without form…

If I’m less than a man… Well then keep me stonewalled… Angry.. And stoic… Operating like a machine impervious to emotions… Repressed free will translated as the ego… Kept in check…

What exactly am I?

The reconciliation of infinite dualities… All converging at one point… One moment… One soul…

Rebuilding the Black Woman… Guardians of our Souls..

Kara Walker’s piece ” A Subtlety” is the launch point of this blog. An image that has provided the impetus for an exploration of our subconscious mind’s primary motif– an artistic requiem of glory lost.

A rear view of the sculpture…

This blog will begin to scratch the surface regarding the significance of the image of the Black Woman. It is a reflection upon the restoration of the Black-woman archetype and her/its importance to humanity.

One look upon Kara Walker’s work opens up the vastness of a million portals–portals leading to truths of both past and present. In this larger-than-life sculpture, Kara depicts a modern rendition of a Sphinx like figure. We have the likeness of a woman crafted out of all white sugar. The woman has a “mammy” resemblance to her that is accentuated by the adornment of her crown with a scarf–something you may be used to seeing atop the head of Harriet Tubman. Her bust is large and exposed as if she were offering her bosom for suckling to any onlooker. In place of an animal body the figure maintains its womanly-curvaceous physique. All capped off by a vagina exposed from the rear view of the sculpture. Depending on the frame of reference of the viewer, we have a hyper-sexualized image of a woman. All the while the woman has a smirk on her face. Almost like she is taunting the observer to explore the depths that she has to offer. As if to say you can scratch the surface but you have the slightest idea how deep it can get.

Sphinx

Sphinx

We can juxtapose this image to that of the actual Sphinx. The image of a regal guardian spirit that stands poised in protecting her city– from a spiritual stand point and an authoritative stand point– a guardian queen if you will.

The two images side by side depict how far the Black Woman has been exiled from her thrown. And also the moral degradation that has gone hand in hand with this vanquishing of her archetype…

power
power

The archetype of the Black Woman has a universally visceral response to all that experience it. Her presence is never subtle. It is encompassing and this is evident on both a conscious and subconscious level. The vibrations that her spirit gives off is undeniable and often commands respect in one fashion or another.

She has fallen from the Creator-of-Man era…

To the Queen– the Ruler-of-Man era..

To the Mammy the Caretaker-of-Man era….

Too the hyper-sexualized– the Whore-of-Man era…

And along with her fall from grace has come the destruction of societal morality and spirituality. Yet her fall has not been of a natural order. It has been carried out in a systematic manner by the would be ruler of the present era. Her ruling archetype type has been assaulted and bombarded by her rival and polar opposite that of the White Male. A patriarchal dominated society who’s morality encompasses all but not limited to: greed, avarice, licentiousness, wanton, gluttony, selfishness, and anything else that appeals to one’s flesh induced desires.
This patriarchal archetype whether it be consciously or subconsciously is perpetually attempting to strip the Black female archetype of all power and authority. Yet as the “Subtlety” has proven… You can change her image but she will never leave her post…

As per popular culture the image of the Black woman is both imitated and mocked. There is a relentless assault upon the motif of the Black Woman. She is often both ridiculed and mimicked–creating a paradox of a unique kind. On the one level she is mocked but on a deeper level she can’t help but to be imitated as she is the purveyor of all civilization.

There is attempt to bring about a new way among the people of this planet. The key to providing the perfect segue into this way of being is the removal of our humanity. And the cornerstone of our humanity is the Black woman. There is an attempt to usher in a new era. One in which man is devoid of spirituality… Devoid of uniqueness.. Devoid of his bond with the universe… Supplanting himself as above or without integration into nature.. Almost as though we were transfiguring ourselves into machines…

Our humanity is what is at stake. There is a war going on that no man is safe from. And if we don’t protect our guardians on the most basic of levels. How do we expect them to protect us on the most critical of level–that which can not be seen and is ever changing? How long can they stand guard if they lack sense of Self? And we lack sense of perspective?
